Core values refresh

As part of Guru’s Brand Studio, I was tasked with revamping our company core values to better reflect our inclusive, people-first culture.
The existing values no longer fully represented our diverse workforce and ideals. I conducted research and interviews to really understand what motivates each employee. I distilled the insights into five new core values that now serve as Guru’s cultural cornerstone:

  • Seek and Share Knowledge
  • Don’t Take Yourself Too Seriously
  • Embrace the Journey
  • Create Advocates
  • Give and Receive Graciously

These values encourage curiosity, resilience, and empathy. They emphasize lifting others up, nurturing our community, and caring for ourselves and each other.

Since the rollout of our revised core values, there has been overwhelmingly positive feedback. Employees have praised the meaningful and inspirational principles that unify company culture and guide individual goals.
